Homeward Bound In Real Life: This Wonderful Dog Story on X Made My Week

AngieArtist

There's nothing like a good dog story to brighten your week.

As a cynophile, I like to find a dog story whenever I can on X. Of course, not all of them are heartwarming. Some are tragic, like Rivan, the canine officer who lost his life protecting his handler from MS-13 prisoners. Others can be downright infuriating. Those tend to involve Hasan Piker or Tony Fauci

China is also, sadly, a place where dog stories tend toward the revolting. This story below, out of China, that went viral on Monday, could have ended that way. But because dogs are heroes, instead, we all got a wonderful glimpse into the courage and loyalty of man's best friends.

And we got it on National Puppy Day, no less. That can't be a coincidence.

What is WRONG with some people? As I noted, this happened in China. In a moment, I will get to why it could have ended horrifically.

Instead, everyone got a wonderful timeline cleanse on National Puppy Day, when we could celebrate some dogs who flat-out refused to be taken away from their owners.

It sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? But it was real. Because dogs, also, are too good to be true.

How could Hollywood say no? (Spoiler alert: Hollywood will say no because China won't let them make this movie.)

I also know of at least one person, who just happens to be the managing editor at Twitchy, who was overwhelmed about the fact that the leader of the pack was none other than the corgi.

Corgis embody the trait of a big personality in a small body. They can make them a handful (just ask @PolitiBunny), but they are also herders, and that means this corgi was well-suited to guide the others. They are very intelligent and fiercely loyal.

Of course, she did!

Toward the end of the clip above, you can even see the dogs banding together to protect the one who needed it.

That's simply astounding. We know a lot of humans who are not nearly as loyal or protective as this small pack of dogs.

That also brings me to the part of the story where it could have ended up being abominable.

Christina Pushaw shared more details that weren't included in the clip:

We don't deserve them.

And that goes triple for anyone who would harm them in this manner. (Are you listening, Barack Obama?)

Thankfully, we got a happy ending, with Pushaw sharing another image that everyone needed to see.

If that doesn't make your day, your week, your month, or even your year, then you need some new 'Friends.' Preferably the four-legged kind.

Of course, not all of the dogs had the leadership skills of the corgi.

The translation of the post above is: 'The golden retriever up front occasionally loses focus and wants to play.'

HA!

Well, that's retrievers for you. The lovable goofballs of the canine world. (I should know; mine only maintains focus when there are snacks involved.) But when the danger was near, the golden retriever also joined the protective circle around the shepherd.

I know the feeling.

Needless to say, there were also some great AI posters from people demanding this puppy 'tail' be made into a movie.

The story doesn't just write itself; it has already written itself. Even if Hollywood or Netflix ignores it, we hope someone will make the movie.

We call our dogs angels without wings. If you ever needed proof that they are exactly that, look no further than this video.

As for whoever was dognapping them and driving the truck, there is no hell hot enough. And while eating dogs is legal in most of China, stealing them is not. This video received so much attention over the past two days -- not just in America, but worldwide -- that even Chinese officials have said they are considering cracking down harder on that crime.

That remains to be seen, but no matter what the laws are in China, nothing can take away from these heartwarming, inspiring, and heroic new Magnificent Seven.

I couldn't have said it any better.

Hug your dogs, Twitchy readers. And know how much they love you.
