Sam Harris says 'no' to Trump being allowed back on Twitter … but there's a problem

Responding to Elon Musk’s poll about allowing President Trump back on Twitter, philosopher-neuroscientist-author-podcast guy, Sam Harris, said the controversial former Commander-In-Chief should not be allowed back on the platform. If he was allowed to return, however, Harris would like Twitter’s Terms of Service (TOS) to disallow the ‘deliberate spreading of dangerous lies’, which would, in Harris’s estimation, get Trump canned again within a week.

Twitter identified the immediate problem which Sam Harris seemed to miss: We’re inundated by the deliberate spreading of dangerous lies every day on Twitter.

It seems Sam might be more bothered by the source of what he deems ‘lies’ than the lies themselves. Obviously, he’s referring to Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen. Opinions of that claim vary widely, even among conservative circles. What is undeniable is that questioning whether an election is legitimate was not considered dangerous at all as recently as 2016.

It’s okay when they say it, you see, because they’re the good guys.

You, on the other hand, are a ‘dangerous Nazi, fascist, traitor’. (We wonder if Sam is concerned about spreading those dangerous lies?)

It appears our CDC was less-than-truthful with us during the COVID-19 pandemic (for our own good, of course).

At least, many people believe that to be the case. That’s the real problem, isn’t it? Who gets to decide which claims are ‘dangerous lies’? Sam Harris? Elon Musk? Twitchy?

We humbly accept our new role as Arbiter of Truth. LOL.

Bingo.

Let people speak. Evidence and time have a tendency to expose lies. Lock a lie in a prison of censorship, and you’ll see it spread and grow faster than Barron Trump.

Remember the Hunter Biden laptop story which may have swayed public opinion in the 2020 election but was buried by the very same Twitter that Harris is criticizing now?

It may be that the Twitter lie detectors just weren’t very good at their jobs. Much more likely is that they were actively helping the guy whose politics they prefer.

Restrictive TOS worked real well there, Sam. The dangerous lie spread in 2020 was that there was ‘no there, there’.

There’s also that. Sam Harris is okay with different rules for Trump … because Trump.

Uh oh. The dangerous lies are stacking up. The riots resulting from this lie were justified, apparently.

Yeah, we already did COVID, but remember the vaccine mandates were largely based on the idea that they were necessary to stop the spread. The implication was the vaccinated would not be spreading the virus. That turned out to be wildly wrong long before vaccine mandates were curtailed.

Exactly. Was it a dangerous lie for President Biden to spread the idea that American citizens were ‘semi-fascists’ and dangerous MAGA radicals?

If we’re doing this ‘dangerous lies’ thing, then you have to assume Biden’s rhetoric may have contributed to 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson being murdered in September by a man who thought he was a right wing extremist.

LOL.

Your Twitter TOS vision isn’t going so well, Sam.

Good questions, guy whose satire site was banned from Twitter for spreading a dangerous truth. Pretty sure we addressed them all above.

Hmmm … you have our attention, sir. LOL.

Sam’s still going. People aren’t buying it.

Yeah, let’s not try that again.

Sorry, Sam Harris, you just failed your interview for Head Veracity Verifier.
