The extensive lawfare efforts against Donald Trump, especially in 2023 and 2024, were made extra disgusting because they were being done by Democrats who claimed the eventual Republican nominee was a wannabe dictator and of course a "threat to democracy." Ironically those claims came from the same Democrats who were trying to throw their political opponent in prison. Stalin would have been proud.
But it all backfired and culminated in one of the most iconic mugshots of all time, three years ago today:
