A little while ago I ran across a "fiery but mostly peaceful" spin on a story about ancient child sacrifice. Yep, you read that right.
CBS News has the following story containing a section that sounds like it could have been written by Margaret Sanger:
Ancient altar found in Guatemala jungle apparently used for sacrifices, "especially of children," archaeologists say https://t.co/HcB2UTIVMJ

In that story you find this:
Román said the discovery also reinforces the idea that Tikal was a cosmopolitan center at that time, a place where people visited from other cultures, affirming its importance as a center of cultural convergence.
María Belén Méndez, an archaeologist who was not involved with the project, said the discovery confirms "that there has been an interconnection between both cultures and what their relationships with their gods and celestial bodies was like."
"We see how the issue of sacrifice exists in both cultures. It was a practice; it's not that they were violent, it was their way of connecting with the celestial bodies," she said.
Wow, that quote should be on Planned Parenthood's front door.
Beyond parody.

CBS News found an archeologist who thinks that child sacrifice is NOT violent.
Disgraceful. https://t.co/tAtuSc1elj pic.twitter.com/LwHhEoLeb8
Archeologists find a Mayan child sacrifice alter and CBS New is like, “Find me an expert who will praise this as non-violent.”

The press are wild. Absolutely wild. pic.twitter.com/40h3kO6hmH
First it was “nonviolent, peaceful rioting” and now it’s “peaceful child sacrifices.”

What planet did these people come from? https://t.co/yZPayPwaqk pic.twitter.com/N4vuklJJ81
"Peaceful child sacrifices" could be the pro-abortion crowd's credo.
I didn't know they had Planned Parenthood clinics in ancient Guatemalan jungles

Or a media that would explain it away as a normal part of life that is not inhumane in any way.
Found one in Chicago from last summer: pic.twitter.com/9r9ovJih5F

Centuries from now, archaeologists will say the same about the United States. https://t.co/gzjgKKxPOL pic.twitter.com/bDF7YX4i0t

Who knew they had demmys even back then 😀.

I hear they weren’t “sacrificed” but were being given “Quetzalcoatl affirming care”.
I wonder if the archaeologists found any evidence that an ancestor of Nancy Pelosi ever was awarded a "Child Sacrificer of the Year" accolade.
