President Biden's "save democracy from Trump" speech yesterday near Valley Forge in Pennsylvania was exactly the doozy I expected. By "doozy" I mean Biden might even have eclipsed his personal best regarding lies, disingenuousness, exaggeration and flat-out shamelessness.
The over-the-top rhetoric from Biden and the White House is because, A) They have no real positive accomplishments to brag about and so they gaslight constantly instead, and B) It's an election year and Biden's numbers fall somewhere in between root canal and hemorrhoids on the approval chart:
President Joe Biden’s job rating has hit an all-time low in the Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll, including particularly poor marks for his handling of immigration and inflation. Only 3 in 10 Americans say the incumbent is giving enough attention to the issues most important to them, which is worse than for his predecessor. The poll also finds congressional leadership ratings have dropped, with the new House speaker debuting in negative territory.
Public opinion of Biden’s overall job performance currently stands at 34% approve and 61% disapprove – his lowest rating in Monmouth’s polling since he took office. Since September, his approval number has dropped 4 points and his disapproval number has increased by 6 points.
So, with the economy in rough shape for average Americans (no matter how the WH and media try to spin things) and the border being overrun, who could still be approving of the train wreck we've all witnessed for the last three years?
At least part of the answer to that question is people who have enough money to not yet be affected very much:
You know when you look at a poll and see a small minority of people support where Biden is taking the country and you say, who ARE these people? This is who they are. Joy Behar is who they are. https://t.co/JZpV1xHQ0p

Joy Behar of "The View" is still pretty high on Biden (and whatever else makes her that way):

Don’t tell me President Biden can’t handle the job. Are you watching him right now? He’s on fire.
— Joy Behar (@JoyVBehar) January 5, 2024
President Biden could be "on fire" only if Hunter was lighting a pipe and accidentally dropped the match in Joe's lap. And speaking of pants on fire, that's the rating "fact-checkers" would be giving many of Biden's claims in that speech, but instead, they are focused on Trump. Behar makes millions of dollars a year for saying incredibly dumb things on television so of course she thinks things are going great for everybody because of Biden.
Singer, actress and all-around misinformed celeb Barbra Streisand joined Behar in being in awe of Biden's truthful and brilliant speech:
What a brilliant speech.

Every sentence, every word, was so powerful and passionate because it was true. https://t.co/UrXgO0qfWp
If Streisand legitimately thinks most of what Biden said is truthful then she's an idiot.
There was literally nothing true in his performance.

Using the word "it was all true" after Joe Biden says ANYTHING should be cause for the immediate removal of your right to vote.
But this does help explain why Biden's approval isn't absolute zero.
