In the U.S., confidence and trust in the media continue to plummet, and on the popularity chart the MSM falls somewhere in between pink eye and shingles:
The 32% of Americans who say they trust the mass media “a great deal” or “a fair amount” to report the news in a full, fair and accurate way ties Gallup’s lowest historical reading, previously recorded in 2016. Although trust in media currently matches the historical low, it was statistically similar in 2021 (36%) and 2022 (34%).
Another 29% of U.S. adults have “not very much” trust, while a record-high 39% register “none at all.” This nearly four in 10 Americans who completely lack confidence in the media is the highest on record by one percentage point. It is 12 points higher than the 2016 reading, which came amid sharp criticism of the media from then-presidential candidate Donald Trump -- making the current assessment of the media the grimmest in Gallup’s history. In 2016, U.S. adults were most likely to say they had “not very much” trust (41%).
As you're well aware, the vast majority of the media leans to the Left, which means the Democrats and their allies in the media complex consider this a big problem. However, they're not going to conclude that the problem is that the media has become a vehicle for pushing narratives not based on reality, but rather the issue is the fact that too many people don't automatically believe what they're told.
So, instead of overhauling the media, there are efforts to overhaul news consumers. That starts with indoctrination, and of course, California is going to be in front of any brainwashing efforts. K-12 students in that state will now be taught "media literacy":
California passed a new law that will mandate K-12 students to learn media literacy as part of their modules plan.

The bill is designed to help students develop skills in identifying false information online amid a worrying rise in distrust in the media. https://t.co/uyCbDXZKu7
The people who are most worried about the "worrying rise in distrust in the media" are Democrats and the media. Too few people are buying the lies:
The bill is designed to help students develop skills in identifying false information online amid a worrying rise in distrust in the media.
Signed into law by California Gov. Gavin Newsom in October, Bill No. 873 requires media literary content to be incorporated into the mathematics, science and history-social science curriculum frameworks.
The bill, which will commence in January 2024, was introduced by Assemblymember Marc Berman, a Democrat representing San Mateo County in Northern California.
The Democrats' version of "media literacy" obviously takes precedence over teaching kids actual literacy, because that might negate their efforts to create a generation that believes anything the "approved" outlets tell them.
Or maybe we could just make sure they can read and do math 🤷🏻♂️

The Left would rather do the math for people and have them automatically trust them. Reading and writing are less of a priority:
The average test scores for U.S. 13-year-olds have dipped in reading and dropped sharply in math since 2020, according to new data from National Assessment of Educational Progress.
The average scores, from tests given last fall, declined 4 points in reading and 9 points in math, compared with tests given in the 2019-2020 school year, and are the lowest in decades. The declines in reading were more pronounced for lower performing students, but dropped across all percentiles.
The math scores were even more disappointing. On a scale of 500 points, the declines ranged from 6 to 8 points for middle and high performing students, to 12 to 14 points for low performing students.
But they'll be indoctrinated in "media literacy"!
California?

So the class will 100% be “Fox bad. Everyone else good.”
Thereby INCREASING media illiteracy. https://t.co/zfmjZN4Tnc
Here’s a novel idea: teach them to think for themselves and they’ll do just fine.

But I’m sure you love this idea, considering your own track record in pushing false information. https://t.co/9KapaiNC8O
"Misinformation" tends to be truth that's inconvenient to Democrats and the lib media.
A glance at some of the comments to the ABC News post saying the new California law is a great idea (from some who I'm pretty sure wear masks while alone in their cars) shows that the indoctrination efforts have already worked on many.
