A while back, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced his intention to put the Green New Deal resolution, co-sponsored by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey, up for a vote. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has now slammed McConnell and the GOP for scheduling a vote on the GND:
The GOP’s whole game of wasting votes in Congress to target others “on the record”, for leg they have no intent to pass, is a disgrace.
Stop wasting the American peoples’ time + learn to govern. Our jobs aren’t for campaigning, & that’s exactly what these bluff-votes are for. https://t.co/ELzpQhlezo

Hey, what gives!?
Someone seems weirdly upset that the Senate will be voting on their plan… https://t.co/9AASlK01fL

If planet is in a crisis and this serious proposal (totally not a stunt!) is the only plan to save it, you would think @AOC wd be: 1) thanking McConnell for scheduling a vote & 2) working to get votes to pass it.
In fact, shouldn’t she be mad at Pelosi for not doing the same?

Every day the GND is delayed means the world is that much closer to the 12-year climate apocalypse deadline as stated by AOC, and now she doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to put her plan to save the planet into play.
I'd certainly be upset too if the opposition Party brought my bill up for a vote. Oh wait…no I wouldn't.
The fact is that the Green New Deal is terrible, and now people get to show their opposition to a terrible Bill.

According to you, we have 12 years to pass the Green New Deal or we die.
Just don't vote on the Bill.
Right…
— Lee Doren (@LDoren) March 23, 2019
If you don't want to put it to a vote, why did you propose it? https://t.co/LsVEH2XxNr

I wish a journalist would ask AoC why she wrote legislation if she didn't want it voted on. https://t.co/RBP5HvaGhL
— Holden (@Holden114) March 23, 2019
But I thought we only had 12 years left to save the planet? Shouldn’t you be voting NOW??? https://t.co/QzQHM8rpet

“There’s not time to waste!” Unless there is.
"How dare the opposition waste time on my proposal… Especially when the ENTIRE basis of my proposal is that we only have a few more years to live, if the proposal isn't passed!"
Such people really shouldn't be taken seriously, ever. https://t.co/bkfYK1K3uO

If climate change is so important and the GND is to be a major force in solving it, isn't getting the 22 Republicans up for election next year "on the record" against it important?
Isn't that how politics is supposed to work? https://t.co/Jhnty5lODG

Are you kidding me? I thought this was urgent legislation that requires immediate consideration? Why delay this?
— stuart brainerd (@stuartbrainerd) March 23, 2019
We only have 12 years!
— MLH ♥️ (@just_mindy) March 23, 2019
Even less than that now! Tick-tock!
Update:
Just yesterday AOC said there’s no time left and the Green New Deal must be passed NOW:
These are flood risk maps for THIS YEAR. The time to have *already begun implementing* a #GreenNewDeal was a year ago.
The next best time is now.
It’s far less costly to get shovels in the ground now, before disaster, w just transitions, infra investment, & good, dignified jobs. https://t.co/cG6gnBnLF2
