As many flashback videos have shown, Democrats like Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton and others haven’t always been opposed to barriers at the border. As evidenced by Sen. Jeff Merkley, the Democrats are trying to get around that awkwardness by saying that Trump’s version of a wall would make the border less secure, and here’s why:
You can’t make this up.
In 2006, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, and 23 other Senate Dems voted for 700 miles of border fencing.
Confronted about why they oppose a barrier today, Dems are now claiming they're against a wall because you can't see through it. ? pic.twitter.com/aClqHN6u4h

At that point the Dems might air “invasion of privacy” concerns.
Metal columns at the base would allow Border Patrol agents to see the other side. Metal plates and a round pipe also sit at the top — a feature Trump complimented on his visit. https://t.co/fkyxtirlaw
