The anti-Trump Resistance is highly encouraged by news that, during campaign season ahead of the 2016 election, Donald Trump’s people continued to promote his business interests in Moscow (up to and including making a scandal out of what they reportedly only thought about doing). However, responding to The New Yorker’s Susan Glasser, WaPo “conservative blogger” Jennifer Rubin flipped the Resistance’s 2016 narrative on its ear:
I know it's been hours but I'm still absorbing this news that Trump was still trying to make a business deal in Russia with Putin's help even after sealing GOP nod – and amid the Russian hacking on his behalf, Trump Tower meeting, etc. How did they think this was not coming out?

And why was that?
They thought he'd lose

NOW it’s getting confusing!
They thought he'd lose, which is why they rigged the election so he'd win? Okey-doke.

Trump works in mysterious ways. But they’ve certainly got all the talking points bases covered now.
