Scott Walker, meet the NYT writer Ron Fournier says will be 'keeping you real'

Scott Walker could be a major contender for the GOP nomination in 2016, and National Journal’s Ron Fournier introduced the Wisconsin governor to his tenacious, fact-finding watchdog at the New York Times:

First off — “big time”?

The New York Times is of course known for being super objective when it comes to conservatives (sarcasm overdose alert).

On the other hand…

That’s a wonderful lead-in to this next part, because a problem has been found in the column by the NYT writer who will be keeping Scott Walker “real.”

Gail Collins wrote that teacher layoffs in Wisconsin happened “because Walker cut state aid to education.” John McCormack at Weekly Standard writes [emphasis ours]:

But the big error in Collins’s piece is her claim that “those layoffs happened because Walker cut state aid to education.” As you can see in the excerpt above, Collins is talking about teacher layoffs that occurred in 2010. Walker did not become governor until 2011.

The truth is that Walker’s reforms actually saved teachers’ jobs.

Well, there’s that small detail.

Speaking of “keeping it real”…

What would we do without the mainstream media “fact finders”?
