'That's a correction': ThinkProgress' Bachmann backtrack catches Jonah Goldberg's attention

ThinkProgress relayed a “news” report that claimed Rep. Michele Bachmann was calling for illegal immigrant children at the border to be put in “labor camps,” or “Americanization facilities” as Bachmann was quoted as saying.

Just one problem: None of it was true. ThinkProgress eventually issued a “correction,” and Jonah Goldberg was impressed by its scope:

The ThinkProgress post now consists of a brief “correction” saying Bachmann “never made the statement” followed by a several hundred word “story” that has been completely lined out.

The ThinkProgress “correction” was spotted by many others:

Crooks and Liars and the Daily Kos are two other liberal websites that have cited the fake story, according to the Daily Caller.

What might the excuse be?

Ding! Ding! Ding!
