Georgia has 14 congressional districts, and none of them are represented by someone named Steve Smith. But that didn’t stop “real reporter” Christiane Amanpour (CNN’s chief international correspondent) from passing along a tweet from “Rep. Smith” supposedly from Georgia’s 15th congressional district as if it were real.
The comment that Amanpour might have assumed came from a member of Congress was apparently in response to a prior tweet:
IN HALF AN HOUR – my interview with German FM Westerwelle on @cnni. He says U.S. spying is "a breach of trust." pic.twitter.com/zIvbbrFkvt
— Christiane Amanpour (@camanpour) October 31, 2013
Final question: How many minutes before Amanpour deletes the tweet?
Editor’s note: This post has been updated to correct an error in the number of congressional districts in Georgia as well as to add a screen shot of the Twitter account in question.
