As Twitchy reported yesterday, the organizers of the March on Washington event were running a strict clock when it came to speaking time for participants. Even Jesse Jackson was prevented from exceeding the 2-minute limit in order to keep the program moving.
One of the people who appeared to be cut short was 9-year-old Asean Johnson, who was giving a few words about public education when the president of the American Federation of Teachers pulled the mic away before letting him say a couple of parting words.
Weingarten re-tweeted Asean Johnson’s mother, who said her son did have a chance to conclude what he wanted to say:
Asean's mom: RT @GlittaGlam: @popcornreel #aseanjohnson did
finish. He only wanted to say thank you! And he got a chance to do that— Randi Weingarten (@rweingarten) August 25, 2013
One tweeter wasn’t completely buying it:
