As you’ve probably heard, yesterday MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell had a totally smoking hot scoop about President Trump and he couldn’t wait to tell the world:
A source close to Deutsche Bank says Trump’s tax returns show he pays very little income tax and, more importantly, that his loans have Russian co-signers.
If true, that explains every kind word Trump has ever said about Russia and Putin. @TheLastWord 10pm
— Lawrence O'Donnell (@Lawrence) August 28, 2019
But it wasn’t even 24 hours (and one defamation lawsuit threat) later that it all fell apart:
Whoopsie? Lawrence O'Donnell admits to 'an error in judgment,' retracts that whole 'Russian oligarchs' thing https://t.co/TjJlpVPdCh

Here’s what O’Donnell said:
Last night I made an error in judgment by reporting an item about the president’s finances that didn’t go through our rigorous verification and standards process. I shouldn’t have reported it and I was wrong to discuss it on the air. I will address the issue on my show tonight.

Sure, maybe he’ll figure out a way to try and pin the blame on Trump anyway, but in the meantime people were advising anti-Trump Resistance actress/activist Alyssa Milano that she might want to reconsider something she tweeted yesterday:
You gonna delete this or nah?
— Dred (@Dred_44) August 28, 2019
Here’s Milano’s tweet, which as of late Wednesday afternoon hadn’t been deleted:
Um, WHO needs to “connect the dots”?
You fell for fake news. #Usefulidiot

And of course Milano’s tweet got over 4,000 retweets and 18,000 likes.
tick tock… https://t.co/e1x2Czb1CF

We don’t need to connect the dots. You need to delete this tweet and apologize for repeatedly misleading your followers, ffs. https://t.co/O5jZPfU7qd

Emphasis on the word “repeatedly.”
