In Orlando, Florida, where a gunman opened fire inside the Pulse nightclub and pledged allegiance to ISIS during his rampage, President Obama faulted “our politics” (read: Republicans and the NRA) for the attack:
Pres Obama said "our politics have conspired to make it easy for a terrorist or disturbed person to but extraordinarily powerful weapons."

As for those who claimed that if somebody in the club had been armed lives might have been saved, Obama had this to say:
Obama calls on Senate to "rise to the moment" on gun control. Says it "defies common sense" to say victims would have been safer if armed

Is the president saying victims of Omar Mateen’s rampage would have somehow been less safe if some clubgoers had been carrying a means to defend themselves? That simply, well, defies common sense. But we’re used to it from this president.
