NBC News is conducting an internal investigation into Brian Williams’ repeated claims that a chopper he was aboard in Iraq in 2003 came under RPG fire.
Williams blames recent accounts of the incident on his simply “misremembering” the events of that day, but he also “misremembered” in 2007 when he told a very descriptive story:
okay, thanks to @mflynny (Nidermeyer's Dead Horse), we're now putting up new video of another variation of Williams CHopper Whopper

@AceofSpadesHQ Heh. Chopper Whopper. So many ways to take that. All of them hilarious. @mflynny

A few years ago, Williams told a budding young reporter that not only did the copter he was aboard come under RPG fire, but that he looked down the tube of the launcher:
Brian Williams in 2007: I looked down into the very tube of the RPG launcher that blew the lede helicopter up http://t.co/SRDpFFyb0X

Megafraud Brian Williams: "I looked down the tube of an RPG that had been fired at us" http://t.co/512aGuPONy via @mflynny

Partial transcript via Ace of Spades:
“It gets me to thinking, I’ve been very lucky the way my life has turned out, I’ve been very lucky to have survived a few things that I’ve been involved in, at a perception a few minutes ago, I was remembering something I tend to forget, the war with Hezballah in Israel, a few years back, where there were Katuyshka rockets passing just beneath the helicopter I was riding in. A few years before that, you go back to Iraq, and I looked down the tube of an RPG that had been fired at us and it hit the chopper in front of ours.“

As it turned out, according to Williams he was merely “misremembering” that period of time. Again.

When you absolutely, positively have to get a reporter into the shit, call Brian "Danger" Williams.

Like from 200ft. In a sandstorm. He gazed into the smoky darkness of the bowels of a 3" wide RPG shaft.

Update: You might recall we’re talking about the same Brian Williams who lectured bloggers about credibility.
