Radical Islamic terrorists abducted hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls last month, and at the Cannes Film Festival, the cast of “Expendables 3” joined Michelle Obama, Sandra Fluke and many others to send a message. Call it “Hollywood hashtag activism,” except apparently without the hashtag in this case:

That’s Harrison Ford, Kelsey Grammar, Wesley Snipes, Sylvester Stallone, Ronda Rousey and Mel Gibson.
The reaction was mixed:

@cbracy Maybe. But for families that get their daughters’ abduction kept in the news and for pressure on government, maybe not. @sbeaugeAFP

@gbengasesan @sbeaugeAFP Celebrities holding signs they don't understand at a film festival keeps the pressure on?
— Catherine Bracy (@cbracy) May 18, 2014
@cbracy Any mention or attention keeps the pressure on. That’s a different matter from the celebrities understanding signs. @sbeaugeAFP

@cbracy The context of the pressure, I understand. Mention is useful here. The fact of celebrities not understanding? No idea. @sbeaugeAFP
