Brain Dead: Lions player says memory loss is 'totally worth it'

In a time when most NFL players, especially retirees, are complaining about head injuries and future memory loss, Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola is perfectly fine with suffering brain damage.

“I think when you sign up for this job, you know what you’re getting into,” Raiola said.

“I have so much fun playing the game, I really don’t worry about it,” Raiola said. “It’s common knowledge that people are going to suffer. Memory loss is going to come. You’re hitting every time you step on the field. I am ready for it. It’s worth it — totally worth it. This is the best job in the world. I would never trade it for anything.”

As a fan we have to respect Raiola’s commitment to the game and his toughness on the gridiron. As a person, he’s being a complete idiot. We understand this is probably how he feels right now, but how will he feel 30 years from today? We’re guessing he’ll have a different stance when that time comes.
