The people who think a guy in a Buffalo hat was going to overthrow American democracy are the same ones who argue continually that, as President Biden has said a few times, you'd need F-15s and maybe a nuke if you far-right wingers think you're going to take on a tyrannical government. I've never understood how that argument is supposed to help with the gun control cause … give up your AR-15s because the government has you way outgunned and could kill you on sight if it felt like it.
On the other hand, we've heard testimony that a single round from an AR-15 can separate the top half of a body from the bottom half. You can't hunt with it because whatever you shoot explodes. It's the deadliest killing machine around, but it doesn't compare to what the government has. Remember when Eric Swalwell said it would be a short war against the government because they'd just drop a nuke on you?
Here's that tired take one more time, only this time it's an Abrams tank and not an F-15 gunning for you.

Ok. Let’s think about that. Can the AR-15 beat back an Abram tank? If we have a government that wants to crush the American’s spirit, do you really think the fire power of all those guns in the hands of the hunters will be enough?
Give the government a few more years, there will be AI driven self-driving and self-piloting weapons that can identify “hunters” and hunt them down faster than you can raise your AR-15.
The 18th century 2nd Amendment is at best a fantasy that individual weapons based on the design and concept of the 18th century technology can fight back the 21st century technology driven weapons.
Unfortunately, the 18th century 2nd amendment is causing us deaths and heart breaking pain of losing our children to mass shooters. The 2nd amendment has yet to deliver any goodness we have or will see.
Let us not continue to stay in the fantasy land. It is time to repeal the 18th century 2nd Amendment and let the 21st century Americans have a transparent debate of what our gun laws should be, state by state.
It's weird … we saw a few people suggest that Americans' AR-15s be confiscated and given to Ukrainian civilians. Israeli citizens could have used some AR-15s while Hamas terrorists were going house to house killing children.
These too are the same people who fear if Donald Trump is reelected that it will be the end of democracy. Then Trump will have control of the military.
And does Celine think militias are going to be taking on the government with muskets? What does she mean by "18th century technology can fight back the 21st century technology driven weapons"?
Why do people who think democracy is so fragile want to disarm the public while at the same time standing behind the full might of the U.S. military (or even the IRS … they're strapped too)?
This is such a stupid argument.
