State Sen. Scott Wiener pulls bill following months of death threats from anti-vaxxers

We’re vaccinating 6-month-olds now, but back when the FDA approved vaccines for 12- to 18-year-olds, there was a bit of a controversy when one municipality started targeting kids directly with its advertising. California State Sen. Scott Wiener had introduced a bill that would allow teens to get vaccinated without their parent’s consent, but months of harassment and death threats from anti-vaxxers took their toll, and he’s pulled the bill.

Yeah, this is the same Scott Wiener who wanted to lower the penalty for adults who have sex with same-sex minors and let a judge decide if the adult should be labeled a sex offender. Wiener thought the law was too harsh for the LGBTQ community where this was common.
