There’s been a lot of debate about Catholicism on Twitter Thursday after Speaker Nancy Pelosi took great offense at the suggestion that she “hated” Donald Trump. She angrily stated that she has no hatred of anyone and prays for the president daily.
And then there’s the debate over the death penalty and the question of how one can be pro-life at the same time. Of course, there’s the obvious argument that an unborn baby is innocent and someone on death row certainly is not. Anti-death penalty activist Sister Helen Prejean, author of “Dead Man Walking” (that was turned into a film starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn), kicked things off Thursday with this tweet:
TN plans to execute Lee Hall tonight. Lee is blind — a result of the state’s refusal to treat the glaucoma he developed in prison. A state worker will have to guide Lee into the electric chair due to his disability. Another example of our system’s devolving standards of decency. pic.twitter.com/BSamFEYsU9

Breitbart’s Brandon Darby got the proverbial slap on the wrist with a ruler when he tried to remind Sister Prejean that Lee Hall had poured gasoline on a woman and watched her burn.
He poured gasoline on his ex-girlfriend and lit her on fire. Her name was Traci Cozier. I’m so busy thinking about how her family is feeling that I find it difficult to care about this guy, just like you apparently find it difficult to show concern for the victim’s family. https://t.co/cKAqRvRmWf

Oh wow. I pointed out that the murderer Sister Helen Prejean was pushing sympathy for had poured gasoline on a woman to watch her burn — and Sister Prejean blocked me. Facts hurt, I guess. pic.twitter.com/fTIDDh8DCi

I only wish Sister Prejean had as much patience with me for my tweet as she has for murderers who burn young women alive. That’s all. https://t.co/pzkzHIX57k

Getting blocked by a nun; that’s something special.
Oh my. That’s disappointing but not surprising. I find with many clergy that their empathy is stubbornly one sided. They won’t even peek at another view.

I’m blocked too. ?

She believes hardcore killers can be redeemed, I guess. People who tweet about what they actually did …?♂️

@helenprejean Sister, with all due..blocking everyone who remotely challenges your opinion isn't doing much to further the idea that you're on the right side of this issue. Go ahead and block me, but you can't smack everyone with your ruler.

He threw gasoline on his girlfriend and burned her alive. Did you forget to mention that detail, Sister? https://t.co/c7zVsLNx0G

But he has glaucoma, Michael. As soon as your vision becomes slightly blurrier, all of your previous crimes should expunged from the records.

So he’s going to blind AND DEAD? Mean!!!
— Johnny Ringo (@jtskaggs08) December 5, 2019
I assume he could still see when he, I am told, poured gasoline on a woman and watched her burn? https://t.co/93iZFcTYYg
— Chip Roy (@chiproytx) December 5, 2019
Y'know, burning a woman alive is not a very decent thing to do.
— Rubia's Father (@dflood51) December 5, 2019
They don’t need a state employee to lead him into the death chamber. I’ll do it for nothing.
— Jeff Epps (@JeffEpps16) December 5, 2019
Blindness is some karmic justice at least.
— G ?? ?????? (@GAtTheC) December 5, 2019
Decency??? What about his crime? Burning a woman to death???? He deserves every bit of his early by consequences and will have to answer to God as well.
— Behindenemylines (@RobStern556) December 6, 2019
Devolving decency was taking so long to justly punish this abjectly evil man.
— Mark W. Büse (@markwbuse) December 5, 2019
These are poisonous people who sympathize with killers and have not even the slightest pity for the people they killed. I guess the victims aren't politically useful.
— NtheNite ? (@Owl_2nite) December 5, 2019
Throw the switch.
— Trump Crusader (@DEkaitis) December 5, 2019
We can see how some people oppose the death penalty, but blocking someone just for bringing up the crime? That’s weak.
