Brian Stelter says media never reported that President Trump had a heart attack, but look at this headline; Updated

President Donald Trump held a massive rally in Florida Tuesday night, and he talked about his visit to Walter Reed, which had a lot of media types wondering just what sort of emergency medical issue had forced Trump to visit the hospital.

At the rally, Trump claimed that the media reported that he had a heart attack, which caught the ear of a lot of people who took that as a confession that Trump actually did have a heart attack and was lying about it.

Here’s Jeremy Diamond of CNN:

And here’s Brian Stelter of CNN:

And here’s Mollie Hemingway with a screenshot from The Guardian (picked up by MSN) and a few links to CNN speculating about what “really” happened.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta was all over it, as CNN refused to believe it was just a routine physical:

It was only after I questioned [White House physician Dr. Ronny] Jackson that he revealed the President had undergone the heart scan and scored 133, indicating that Trump had a common form of heart disease. According to the Mayo Clinic, “A score of 100 to 300 means moderate plaque deposits. It’s associated with a relatively high risk of heart attack or other heart disease over the next three to five years.”

So maybe the media didn’t report that he had a heart attack, but they sure did speculate a lot. Let’s agree that they didn’t say he had a “massive, unbelievable heart attack” (Trump does like to exaggerate), but the media certainly didn’t handle it responsibly.

Update:

This is interesting; Rich Weinstein apparently violated Twitter’s rules against abuse and harassment by suggesting Stelter Google “Trump Heart Attack.”

Targeted harassment? Seriously?
