We’ll admit we’re not certain exactly what bug is up CNN Communications’ butt Saturday, but it might have to do with President Trump “attacking” two Washington Post reporters over their piece on President Trump’s “lost summer.” Never mind reading the piece (it’s behind a paywall anyway); Stephanie Grisham and Hogan Gidley wrote a great response at the Washington Examiner called “The Washington Post’s Lost Summer,” and here’s a summary:
“News coverage of President Trump has been 92% negative. The most egregious and dangerous forms of this bias thrived this summer at media outlets like the Washington Post, which routinely masquerade opinion as news.” https://t.co/eqnf6bBRtM
— Nick Short ?? (@PoliticalShort) September 7, 2019
Trump picked up on the piece:
The Washington Post’s @PhilipRucker (Mr. Off the Record) & @AshleyRParker, two nasty lightweight reporters, shouldn’t even be allowed on the grounds of the White House because their reporting is so DISGUSTING & FAKE. Also, add the appointment of MANY Federal Judges this Summer! https://t.co/7d33tzKxXq

Maybe — just maybe — it’s to Philip Rucker and Ashley Parker that CNN Communications is offering its solidarity in the fight against attacks on the free press:
CNN proudly stands with @washingtonpost and its reporters. Continuing attacks on the media and the First Amendment are wrong.

That's like Al Sharpton standing with Shaun King.

What's he done now.

Continuing attacks on the Second Amendment are wrong, and those are actually happening — why not report on that?

There is nothing wrong when the media is called out for their obvious bias. Telling Trump or anybody to keep quiet while the mainstream media attacks and destroys their credibility is wrong.
Trump is exercising his first amendment right.

The First Amendment protects the rights of Americans to criticize the press.

Criticizing the media is part of the 1st Amendment and I'm thrilled that it bothers you.
— Rich Osborne?? (@SalKitchen) September 7, 2019
Pointing out that one media outlet or another is absolutely shit at its job is not an attack on the 1st amendment. Washington Post is shit at its job. And incidentally, So is CNN.
— gloomhauer (@gloomhauer) September 7, 2019
No one is "attacking" the first amendment! Trump and others are using our first amendment rights and calling out your lies, bias and bs!!

Your media bias is exposed. Nobody is interested in your “journalists”.

CNN proudly had Michael Avenatti on the network. Standing by the @washingtonpost really not a big surprise. #FakeNewsCNN

This is exactly what I would expect to hear from a bunch of Democrat activists trying to protect another leftist propaganda outlet. CNN and other partisan media are the true threat to the First Amendment.
— Wendy Fox (@WendyRedFox) September 7, 2019
Your First Amendment cover is disappearing as most Americans realize you are using that protection as a shield for disinformation, misinformation, partisan politics, bias, hate.
