This tweet from Paul Krugman is actually from Monday, but we’re still seeing people respond to it because it’s just so Paul Krugman and therefore worthy of derision. He doesn’t seem to be making any prediction as to whether Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed, but in any case, we’ve learned he’s smarmy and entitled.
Whatever eventually happens, Kavanaugh was clearly a smarmy, smirking, entitled and mercenary guy; the odds that he had some kind of skeleton in his closet were pretty good 2/

Clearly.
Not sure what stage of grief we’re on here. https://t.co/mHaQQWSmXD

Whatever eventually happens, Krugman was clearly a partisan, petty, obnoxious and disingenuous guy ; the odds that he had some kind of integrity in his soul were pretty bad. 2/ https://t.co/m9lZPgDV2v

Unhelpful contribution, and a poor advertisement for scientific method, from a Nobel prize winner. https://t.co/l4pUTGBgOk

Huh? And you haven't even heard her testimony yet? Anyway speaking of pre-judging; How's that recession and stockmarket collapse coming along? https://t.co/KODLQ6W2Fj

Paul Krugman referring unironically to someone else and smarmy and smirking is simply majestic in its absolute lack of self-awareness https://t.co/3eIiGFb0es

It takes a thoroughly non-smarmy, never-smirking, utterly humble, and inspiringly selfless fellow like Paul Krugman to really put things in perspective. https://t.co/vuc62lMV71

Remember when both NARAL and Stephen Colbert made fun of Kavanaugh because of his “frat boy” first name?
Krugmanite justice: bad people like Kavanaugh are guilty of *something* anyway, so who cares if he did it. https://t.co/XCzdqdVAwS

This is insane. The left, more importantly the supposedly “rational” left, is claiming Kavanaugh probably raped a person because he is smarmy and smirking. https://t.co/fqFqeCdusZ

I’m not sure how the ACLU would feel about the “I Don’t Like The Look of Him” standard espoused by Krugman. Or anyone, really. https://t.co/g5Fp4XON0w

I would suggest that in America, we don’t impute guilt based on such characteristics. We have the rule of law. I hate to be unkind, but I’d also point out that @paulkrugman has VERY good reason to be grateful for this. https://t.co/jEPBwEWhNR

Annndddd, there it is. There was nothing remotely smarmy, smirking, entitled or “mercenary” about Judge Kavanaugh. He will be a fine #SCOTUS Justice. Your bias is all over your face like marinara sauce after a sloppy meatball sub, Paul. https://t.co/FPUQvsy43r

But wait, there’s more!
A trivial personal thought: I don't spend a lot of time with wealthy and/or powerful people, but it does happen occasionally given my line of work. And from now on I'll always wonder how many of the well-spoken men around the table are monsters in their personal lives
— Paul Krugman (@paulkrugman) September 20, 2018
The real victim in all of this is Paul Krugman, people.
