Alliance of World Scientists issues second notice: Your planet is doomed; Can Sulu save us?

This news broke Monday, but we crossed our fingers and hoped there’d be at least 24 hours left to cover it before the end of the world.

More than 15,000 scientists from 184 countries have signed onto the “World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity: A Second Notice.” Why a second notice? The Boston Globe explains:

The paper is a “second notice” because 25 years ago, a majority of the world’s Nobel laureates and other scientists signed a warning letter, saying issues such as ozone depletion, forest loss, climate change, and population growth needed to be addressed.

In other words, the planet was doomed, and it still is doomed, even more than it was in the ’90s.

Could a tweet from George Takei save the Earth from destruction?
