In or out? White House 'clarifies' Wall Street Journal report on Paris agreement

If you’re like us, you’ve had more than your fill of stories about “Chuck and Nancy” this week and what great negotiations they’ve had with President Trump — great for them and the Democrats, that is. Trump reportedly will push to make DACA the law of the land in exchange for beefed-up border security; the wall, though, will come … later.

So conservatives certainly weren’t going to be pleased with a report in the Wall Street Journal Saturday claiming that the United States would not withdraw from the Paris climate accord after all.

No, the story wasn’t very clear, and the White House went into action pretty quickly to clarify the report.

Here’s what the Wall Street Journal passed along, for the record:

“The U.S. has stated that they will not renegotiate the Paris accord, but they will try to review the terms on which they could be engaged under this agreement,” European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete said.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In that light, the White House’s statement sounds a lot more reliable than the Journal’s headline — although we kind of liked the Trump administration’s stance before the “unless” came into the picture.

Right?

Here’s a thought:
