Is your child transgender? The AP helpfully consults gender experts so you don't have to

As Joseph Curl notes at The Daily Wire, the Associated Press used to be a consistently reliable source of dry, unbiased news stories. But there really isn’t a better indicator of the direction the AP is taking than a story published Monday headlined, “How to know if your child is transgender: What experts say.”

Who knows? Maybe the AP has been so inundated with questions from confused parents that it decided to add an advice column to its offerings.

Among the tips offered by gender experts: go away for the weekend as a family and “allow the child to call the shots in terms of their gender.” Johanna Olson-Kennedy, medical director of The Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, advises, “Do a weekend as a different gender, and see what you learn.”

Readers offered their own tips.

Are you talking about parents and their impressionable children, or the Associated Press and impressionable parents?

The AP doesn’t offer any advice in that area, but if parents find their children really do identify as attack helicopters, it might be best to seek out a professional to help root out toxic masculinity and other social constructs that contribute to violence, like Princeton did recently:
