One thing’s clear from even a cursory overview of the hacked emails released this week by WikiLeaks: Democrats and mainstream journalists aren’t exactly shy about communicating with and about each other.
After interim DNC chair Donna Brazile found herself caught up in a WikiLeaks dump on Tuesday that appeared to show her, as a CNN contributor, in touch with the Clinton campaign about a CNN/TV One town hall question that could prove tricky for Hillary to answer, she issued a denial that suggested hacking by the Russians was a far more pressing concern.
What does CNN have to say about all of this? Not much, it seems, and the network doesn’t appear anxious to bring Brazile on to tell her side of the story. Have things gotten a little too close for comfort?
It's sad to get undermined by @CNN who didn't ask me to appear yesterday on air. But, they released emails without giving anyone of us info.

In good conscience, I called @CNN to discuss this terrible episode. But the rush to distract has been too great. Don't run over @tvOneNews.

You know what I fear most? Cowards. Too many ppl working under the assumption that making headlines news will give you cover. That's stupid.

I have emails to all Democrats and plenty of Republicans too. Ask me and I can tell you what I know. But, stop insulting the American ppl.

Last point folks: I have called plenty of reporters in my day to give up what I know and ask for more info before responding to them.

Maybe the election will go well enough for Clinton that Brazile, the Democrats, and CNN can get back to business as usual and avoid an awkward Thanksgiving dinner.
Oops. This wasn't approved by @TheDemocrats. My email accounts belong to me and yes I've been hacked multiple times. Go figure. #Fear
— Donna Brazile (@donnabrazile) October 12, 2016
For the record, that #Fear hashtag is a call back to this tweet:
#FEAR is a 4 letter word that means
F false
E evidence
A appearing
R real
Retweet: false evidence appearing real #FEAR— Donna Brazile (@donnabrazile) October 12, 2016
That settles that, almost. Brian Stelter is still on the good list.
@brianstelter. Let's keep in touch, you're about the only one reporting with some accuracy.
— Donna Brazile (@donnabrazile) October 12, 2016
Definitely on the naughty list is Politico, which claims to have some more of that false evidence that appears real, in the form of an email “written by town hall co-moderator Roland Martin on the day of the town hall to CNN producers” that “shows him using word for word the language of a question that Brazile appeared to have sent to the Clinton campaign a day earlier.”
More evidence that @donnabrazile got death penalty question in advance for CNN Dem debate & gave it to Clinton https://t.co/zaSQhkbfqp

I remember that question. HRC went into her folksy "well Gosh, that's just such a tough question!" mode

Hillary does always seem super-glad when surprised with those unexpected questions.
