Gross: Time to reconsider Bono's foreign policy advice, drop Amy Schumer on ISIS

When Bono, the inspiration behind Apple’s innovative “U2 – Songs Of Innocence Removal Tool,” testified that the United States should use comedy to fight ISIS, the idea was laughed off by pretty much everyone.

Though he told the Senate that laughter would take away ISIS’s power, his suggestion to “send in” Amy Schumer might be worth a second look. It’s not that her jokes would take away the power of Islamic extremists, but it might keep her off of Twitter, where today she added way too much information to Vanity Fair’s tweet about her surfing accident.

It’s hardly fair that the United States hoard the comedic talents of both Schumer and Sarah Silverman.

Maybe we’re just not sophisticated enough to appreciate the humor.
