Slow news day given shot of adrenaline by part in Jake Tapper's hair

If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the course of this administration, it’s not to assume that just because the president is on the golf course doesn’t mean it’s a slow news day. As Secretary of State John Kerry clarified on “Face the Nation,” the president’s schedule “is not set by terrorists,” something President Obama made abundantly clear when he hit the links 20 minutes after wrapping up a press conference on the beheading of an American journalist by ISIS.

As Twitchy reported, the president decided to take advantage of the mild weather today to unwind at the golf course following his stressful trip with the wife and kids to Cuba and Argentina. Admit it: family vacations (especially with teen children along) can be more stressful than a day at the office.

CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller might not have much to write about today, but CNN’s Jake Tapper knows that sometimes you have to make the news, and the veteran journalist took an extra step to add some excitement to his reporting on today’s election returns.

Something tells us Tapper is looking forward to a day off tomorrow as much as anybody.
