Osama bin Laden letter on climate change unveils the Bernie Sanders of terrorists

Papers reportedly retrieved from the raid on Osama bin Laden’s hideout included his will, as well as a letter urging Americans to support President Obama and join the world in fighting the release of gases. The letter sounds suspiciously close to Bernie Sanders’ stump speech, in which he declares climate change a greater threat to national security than terrorism.

Reuters, not surprisingly, reports that bin Laden “contended that the world would be better off fighting climate change than waging what he claimed was a war against Islam.” America’s most wanted terrorist allegedly wrote, “This is a struggle between two of the largest cultures on Earth, and it is in the shadow of catastrophic climate conditions.”

Fighting a war while the climate is changing can be a challenge. As former secretary of defense Chuck Hagel testified, “A changing climate will have real impacts on our military and the way it executes its missions.”
