Bad news for President Obama tonight as the U.S. Supreme Court has blocked a new federal regulation that would cut emissions from power plants. The president announced last August that his Clean Power Plan would be the most important step the United States had ever taken against climate change.
The Supreme Court has put a hold on the plan, however, with opponents arguing that the Environmental Protection Agency has overstepped its authority and intruded on states’ rights.
This is HUGE. Means Obama CANNOT force states to cap emissions and make electricity prices necessarily skyrocket until court rules.
