#NationalPizzaDay used to push minimum wage increase, climate change awareness

Yes, it’s #NationalPizzaDay, and while the major pizza chains are making the most of it on Twitter, some are trying to politicize the humble pizza pie.

For example, the U.S. Department of Labor has tweeted a shout-out to a small pizza chain which has raised its starting minimum wage and whose owner encourages Congress to raise the federal minimum wage.

Climate Reality urges citizens to take care of the only planet to have pizza.

We don’t quite understand the text, but the House Republicans have linked to a description of H.R. 2017, the Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act, which “gives restaurants, grocers, and convenience stores the freedom to provide nutrition information in a way consistent with how they operate and how their customers actually place orders — including by phone, online, or through mobile apps.”

And while we consider #NationalPizzaDay one of the lesser holidays, it still called for a photo of President Obama and pizza.
