Press secretary sends thanks to Everytown for Gun Safety for its research support

Neither President Obama nor Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety has managed to accomplish its goal of passing nationwide “common sense” gun control. The president returned from his Hawaiian vacation following the announcement that on his return he’d be consulting with his legal team to see which executive actions and orders he could use to reduce gun violence.

For once he wasn’t just stalling. The president met with U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, FBI Director James Comey, ATF Deputy Director Thomas Brandon and others today and will announce his plans tomorrow.

In the meantime, there was a bit of a love-fest between the Obama administration and anti-gun groups Moms Demand Action and its parent, Everytown for Gun Safety.

Press Secretary Josh Earnest thanked the unelected members of Everytown for their support of the president’s effort, providing their own research and recommendations.

The love-fest didn’t extend to the Gun Violence Research Center, which describes itself as “promoting a safer tomorrow by taking nuanced approaches to gun violence.”
