Michael Bloomberg’s gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety has scored quite a coup by convincing several NBA stars to appear in its new video. The New York Times reports that the idea originated with director Spike Lee, who approached ESPN president John Skipper, who then took the idea to NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

We sincerely didn’t know the NBA had a president of social responsibility, but Kathleen Behrens, who holds the position, told the New York Times, “We know far too many people who have been caught up in gun violence in this country, and we can do something about it.”
The video is available for viewing on YouTube, but comments are blocked, so keep your opinions to yourself.
President Obama, currently on vacation in Hawaii, tweeted his thanks to the NBA for contributing to Everytown’s gun control effort.
I'm proud of the @NBA for taking a stand against gun violence. Sympathy for victims isn't enough – change requires all of us speaking up.

@debbieebb I don't usually agree with @POTUS but guns have no place in @NBA games. How many free-throws for a chest wound?
