While Hillary Clinton was out on the campaign trail blasting the NRA, the NEA finalized its endorsement of the former secretary of state. This is even bigger news than her Wendy Davis endorsement, as the National Education Association is America’s largest labor union and was reportedly tempted by socialist Bernie Sanders.

Interesting choice to use a 14-year-old photo of Senator Hillary Clinton. The smile is almost lifelike.
Grateful to have @NEAtoday on Team Hillary. Educators are the frontline fighters building a stronger America. http://t.co/cdBeoumR8v

Clinton might be feeling the love from NEA leadership, but word among the NEA rank and file is that most still #FeelTheBern, and others would have liked to have seen at least one debate among the candidates before making an endorsement.
@HillaryClinton @NEAToday I hear it's just the leaders. The rank and file don't endorse HRC
— Debra Smith (@DebraSmith37) October 3, 2015
@HillaryClinton @CTO1ChipNagel @NEAToday Almost all the members are protesting the endorsement, how proud are you of that? #FeelTheBern
— OldElmTree.com ?? (@OldElmTree) October 3, 2015
@HillaryClinton @NEAToday um… You've got a half a dozen leaders but certainly not the rank and file because they're with @BernieSanders
— Craig Anderson (@C2theRizz) October 3, 2015
@HillaryClinton @rweingarten @NEAToday Your endorsement lacks the endorsement of educators!#neadoesntspeak4me #aftdoesnteither

@HillaryClinton As an educator, I could not disagree more with the decision from @NEAToday to support you. @BernieSanders has my support!

@HillaryClinton @NEAToday the rest of us are waiting for @Joe_Biden at least he is honest

NEA president Lily Eskelsen García is thrilled to share the news with the union’s members.
NEA members – I hear you & I'm proud of your #2016 passion and activism. I look forward to our #NEARA16 work. More: http://t.co/QDlprrbMBE

.@Lily_NEA told me in reaching its decision, 75 percent of the NEA board supported Clinton.
— Ken Thomas (@KThomasDC) October 3, 2015
@KThomasDC @NEAMedia @Lily_NEA but the rank and file did not………doesn't seem like our input was considered.
— Laura Schneider (@kceapresident) October 3, 2015
@Lily_NEA what do we need you for? You just sold us out, this is no different than @POTUS morale has never been lower, weep 4our children.

@Lily_NEA @NEAToday I don't think you are hearing members. To make an endorsement before the 1st Dem debate is a mistake.
— Kristine Goldhawk (@kegoldhawk) October 3, 2015
@Lily_NEA @NEAToday did you consider polling anyone? This is bogus, and the opposite of the Democratic values that unions should espouse!
— Anthony Baker (@anthbake) October 3, 2015
@Lily_NEA I don't understand why @MartinOMalley or @BernieSanders weren't invited to a town hall or call with PAC? It seems shady

@Lily_NEA you did it again, so disappointed in the Hillary decision. So much for representing the members.
— peg mahoney (@peg_mahoney) October 3, 2015
@Lily_NEA @NEAToday you didn't listen to the members at all and are representing incorrectly. #feelthebern
— shahrzad (@shahrzadphoto) October 3, 2015
@Lily_NEA Couldn't be MORE disappointed!!! So much for: This is what DEMOCRACY looks like. SMH #NEA
— Daina Karol (@DainaKarol) October 3, 2015
. @Lily_NEA @NEAToday No, you don't "hear" us. Many of us do NOT agree with the endorsement of Hillary. You are most certainly NOT listening
— Kimberly Ann (@kimberlyann274) October 3, 2015
@Lily_NEA Pathetic. I oppose this endorsement and will NOT vote for her in the primaries. I am SO disappointed in NEA and YOU!
— Largo Guy (@jcw121265) October 3, 2015
She could be indicted by the primaries, but we don’t suppose that matters to the NEA leadership.
