As Twitchy reported earlier today, #IStandWithAhmed was (and still is) the No. 1 trending hashtag on Twitter. Online support for 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed, who was handcuffed and detained after bringing a homemade digital clock to school, was overwhelming, so much so that President Obama invited Mohamed to bring his clock to the White House.
CNN’s headline announcing the president’s invitation managed to anger and infuriate quite a few, though.

@chrislhayes CNN is going downhill. Are we surprised by this?

@chrislhayes CNN should do the honorable thing and just go dark already.

@chrislhayes That's… poorly worded.

And now it’s gone.

Mistakes and corrections happen to everyone, but repeating the false accusations against the kid in a tweet/headline is really not cool.

@liamstack @CNNPolitics dirty click bait. What is this, Fox News?

No ma’am. This … is CNN.
