As Twitchy reported this morning, Milwaukee Co. Sheriff David Clarke assisted with the rewrite of a headline regarding last night’s shooting incident in Ferguson, Mo. Politico had gone with “Police Shoot Man Who Allegedly Fired at Officers Near Ferguson Protests,” while Sheriff Clarke preferred the more descriptive “Suspect Fires Shots at Police, Police Return Fire.”
After all, before the suspect had been shot by police, he had managed to do this to the unmarked police car in which two officers were following him.

In Texas we have an incident of an unarmed black youth being shot by police, but we think Sheriff Clarke could do wonders with the headline.

A reading of the associated story reveals that the college football player apparently did more than play football.
Police were contacted by a company that manages security cameras at Classic Buick GMC in Arlington at about 1 a.m. Friday. Sgt. Paul Rodriguez, an Arlington police spokesman, told The Associated Press that police were advised that someone had driven a car onto the lot, started to damage another car, then drove his own vehicle into the glass front of the showroom.
Officer Brad Miller and another officer entered the dealership and approached the subject as other officers set a perimeter around the dealership, Rodriguez said.
According to a police statement, an “altercation” of some kind ensued and Miller shot Taylor.
…
In his only known criminal charge, Taylor received six months’ deferred adjudication on a drug charge after police found him with 11 hydrocodone tablets that were not prescribed to him, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
At the time the story was published, it wasn’t clear if police would release surveillance video from the car shot. They since have, and it shows Taylor acting erratically, jumping on the hood of a car and apparently trying to break the windshield.

So why all of the focus on Officer Brad Miller? WJLA reports, “The death of 19-year-old Christian Taylor has raised some of the same questions as other recent police shootings involving unarmed suspects.”
