Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake appeared for a press conference just before 8 p.m. Monday, but not to announce her resignation. Rather, she announced that she had requested and secured assistance from the National Guard and was instituting a week-long curfew. She also distinguished between the “peaceful” protests of last week and the disturbing violence perpetrated today by “thugs.”

Many were perplexed by the idea of setting a curfew to begin tomorrow night, when violence and rioting broke out around 3 p.m. today.
So the curfew in Baltimore doesn't go into effect until tomorrow night? What about tonight Mayor?

Hear that, looters and rioters? The mayor is really going to start cracking down starting 10 pm tomorrow night!

Oh, and no school tomorrow, so take advantage of that extra time on the streets before the curfew finally kicks in.
The last thing we need are kids not in school! Now folks will be all over with NO supervision. This is nuts! https://t.co/gvKmEksNzm

That curfew really would be handy tonight.

Oh God, the Baltimore mayor just called for Al Sharpton to speak out….that is the LAST thing this situation needs.
— Pat McMahon (@PatMcMahonDC) April 28, 2015
Baltimore mayor said it's fine if Rev. Al Sharpton comes to her city to call for peaceful protest. Sigh.
— Emily Miller (@emilymiller) April 28, 2015
So the mayor is waiting until TOMORROW to impose a curfew AND invited Al Sharpton to come? #BaltimoreRiots aren't ending any time soon. Sad.
— Sarah Rumpf (@rumpfshaker) April 28, 2015
Baltimore Mayor ends presser without any supportive comments about the police & suggests Al Sharpton should come to #Baltimore. Amazing.
