When Mitt Romney tweeted his congratulations to RNC chair Reince Priebus on his reelection this afternoon, he added, “See you in San Diego tonight.” Priebus had told the press earlier this week that there was no speaker scheduled for Friday night’s GOP reception on the U.S.S. Midway, but Romney reportedly asked Priebus at the last minute if he could have a few moments to make some remarks while the band was on its break.
If Romney’s speech comes as a surprise, so does the rumor that Romney, ridiculed endlessly during his campaign for his car elevator and his wife’s horse, would be arriving aboard the Midway on a helicopter.
MITT ROMNEY will arrive at tonight's RNC event aboard the USS Midway via helicopter, Republican source tells me.

I assume Mitt will have a "Mission Accomplished" banner unfurled as his helicopter lands on the Midway for the #RNC event.

Romney is arriving at an RNC event on the USS Midway via helicopter. Because people haven't had a chance to get to know the REAL Mitt.

@MarlenaCNN @EricFehrn @TimAlberta Mitt's probably going to tie up his luxury yacht to the Midway and have his chef prepare the dinner.

It’s only one word from Romney senior advisor Eric Fehrnstrom, but we’re counting on it.

Mitt Romney will NOT be flying in to dinner tonight on a helicopter per multiple RNC officials.

Republican familiar w/ logistics of event says that, as of this morning, helicopter arrival planned for Romney. Plan may have changed since.

After seeing this, we’re not sure what to think.
Get out of the helicopter like this, governor. pic.twitter.com/SlesFOb07z
