As Twitchy reported earlier today, Montana Democrat Sen. John Walsh has dropped out of the Senate race in the wake of plagiarism allegations. One big name floated to possibly replace Walsh as a candidate, former Gov. Brian Schweitzer, has said this afternoon that he’ll pass.
Schweitzer posted this statement to his Facebook page:
Nancy and I love the Georgetown we call home and the stunning views of the Pintler Mountains take our breath away. Although I’m flattered to be on some of the lists of potential U.S. Senate candidates, I respectfully decline to seek the nomination. I enjoyed being in public service as Governor of Montana. I believe in citizen government — where citizens step up to serve then step aside for others to do the same. My deepest thanks to John Walsh for his continued service. I look forward to supporting whoever the next nominee turns out to be.
As I said the other day, Brian Schweitzer isn't going to get in. Why? Because he knows what we know. Even @DSCC acknowledged his baggage

So do folks recall that Brian Schweitzer called a sitting female Democratic Senator a prostitute just six weeks ago? http://t.co/uO8wGIqJTl

Brian Schweitzer alluded to Feinstein as a streetwalker and said E. Cantor set off his gaydar. Didn't know that. http://t.co/RFjTHyQ7Uf

@kurtisalee Nancy has already said no..and Brian Schweitzer is a homophobe and a misogynist…so please – – no to him. He would't win.

Brian Schweitzer won't run for Senate, so now we can go back to pretending he might run for president.

Brian Schweitzer is looking like the PBJ of the Democratic party. Chasing 2016 phantoms.

Thus ends yet another period of time when everyone was wondering if Brian Schweitzer would run for something http://t.co/rVjOnLhurs
