Let CNN political analyst Marc Lamont Hill be clear. Apparently some of his remarks about the Romney family photo that so amused Melissa Harris-Perry and friends are being misconstrued. Once again, the Right Scoop has the video, in which Hill opines, “Some would say maybe that it’s an exploitative picture, that they’re exploiting the kid by hauling out this black person.” Some would say that.
Please explain how making a child part of a loving family is "hauling out a black person" @marclamonthill

Good question, Katie. Yes, explaining that would go a long way toward clearing this up.
@KatiePavlich I don't think it is. I just said that I don't doubt romney's intentions. Still, ppl have a right to question him. He's public.
— Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) December 31, 2013
What the HELL is there 2 question @marclamonthill? A white family adopting a black baby who didn't have a home? Is that "questionable" to u?
— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) December 31, 2013
@KatiePavlich honestly, I'm happy and proud of the Romney family for the adoption. I've said so many times.
— Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) December 31, 2013
I think people are overblowing the Melissa Harris-Perry/Romey thing. I think the intentions of the segment are being misrepresented.
— Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) December 31, 2013
I think they were making fun of Romney and the GOP, not the baby. There's a huge difference.
— Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) December 31, 2013
When people (mostly on the left) mocked the Palin family children, I criticized them. It was unacceptable. That's not what MHP did.
— Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) December 31, 2013
Also, I honestly don't think Romney has any ulterior motives on this. I think he's just being a proud loving grandfather.
— Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) December 31, 2013
So they weren’t just hauling out a black person for some reason? Go on.
Still, it's totally reasonable to tease Romney and question his motives. He's a public figure. That's not the same as mocking a kid.

@marclamonthill youre completely wrong on this. public figure or not, using a baby to question his motives is low brow horseshit!
— Rick (@shershot99) December 31, 2013
IT IS HIS GRANDCHILD, YOU FUCKING SCUMBAG. @marclamonthill
— RBe (@RBPundit) December 31, 2013
@marclamonthill so if Romney would've taken a picture w/ all his grandkids and left his Blk grandchild out that would be acceptable…PLEASE
— Derrick Burnette (@dpburnette) December 31, 2013
@marclamonthill what if he had left his black grandson out of the pic? Would that make you happy?
— Ryan (@chasinghumility) December 31, 2013
@marclamonthill this is the problem with liberal thinking…they get so emotional about ppl they don't like, that logic flies out the window

@steveatmguy i don't question his motives. But OTHERS, like the show in question, have a right to. That's what I said.
— Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) December 31, 2013
@marclamonthill You just undid the past 4-5 tweets. No, it's not reasonable. Tease him about his politics, not his adoption of a baby. smh
— WhoDis? (@TimKnowsBest) December 31, 2013
So it’s OK to tease a child about their family’s ethnicity if the grandfather is a public figure @marclamonthill ?
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) December 31, 2013
Here’s the clarification we’ve been waiting for, courtesy of Roland Martin.
.@marclamonthill sorry, dude, you're wrong. That child has nothing to do with Mitt Romney. It's unnecessary to use the kid to make a joke.
— rolandsmartin (@rolandsmartin) December 31, 2013
There is no reason whatsoever to use the Black grandchild of Mitt Romney to take shots at him or the GOP. NONE. So stop defending it.
