The battlefield between Team Trump and Team DeSantis has shifted away from the coronavirus response for a bit as both teams argue over FBI Director Christopher Wray. Ron DeSantis is saying if elected, he would fire Wray. Team Trump is responding with a tweet of DeSantis praising Wray in the past and claiming DeSantis voted to confirm Wray as a member of Congress. That last claim got hit with Community Notes.
DeSanctimonious is now making a show of promising to fire FBI Director Christopher Wray, but DeSantis voted FOR Wray’s confirmation in 2017, praising him as “talented, capable & highly respected.” https://t.co/PQuMADaq4s

MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan, who like most in the mainstream media wants to see Donald Trump lose to Joe Biden a second time, says it seems “totally normal and non-authoritarian” for DeSantis to campaign on firing a man he once called an “inspired choice.”
Ron DeSantis, who called Christopher Wray an ‘inspired choice’ when Trump nominated him for the FBI director job, is now running on a pledge to fire Wray. Oh, and to pardon 1/6 insurrectionists.
Totally normal and non-authoritarian.

So Hasan is retweeting the same old DeSantis tweet that Team Trump is retweeting.
I change my mind when the facts change. What do you do?

Based on his performance, he would be absolutely right. Horrible choice, but he will have the ability to right that wrong if elected. Good for him for recognizing when he has made a bad decision.

You know it’s legal and a lot of 🇺🇸 presidents have removed people who are appointed to their position and replace them with someone else. People’s opinions change. Shocker I know.

I’m sure you haven’t lived up to your potential and got fired? Same thing.
— Leo Marvin (@Dr_L_Marvin) May 31, 2023
That was before he knew Wray would insist on doing things legally.

Hasan keeps the propaganda rolling. Lesser of two evils, y'all!

Things change genius. One can't know a criminal until exposed.

It’s abnormal and authoritarian to fire somebody who has done a poor job? You know what is abnormal and authoritarian? The FBI defying a subpoena from the United States House of Representatives.

You can’t be serious 🤦🏾♀️

Remember when liberals questioned the FBI. Now they worship it

What's totally normal is an alleged journalist focusing his efforts on partisan political headhunters.
Totes normal for legit journalists. Totes.— Pierce Victorian (@DaFishPierce) May 31, 2023
We don’t see anyone in Hasan’s replies who’s praising Trump, even though Hasan is stealing Trump’s playbook. What’s authoritarian about firing someone who turned out to be a criminal? It is normal to lose your job when you suck at it.
