Last September, New York City Mayor Eric Adams proclaimed that New York has a brand: “When people see it, it means something.” He also noted that “Kansas doesn’t have a brand.” Adams got a lot of responses reaffirming that New York has a brand: When people see it, they think of people being pushed in front of subway trains, and Jews and Asians being assaulted in broad daylight.
On Wednesday, Adams further cemented New York City’s brand by introducing the first “rat czar” in the city’s history.

“There’s a new sheriff in town.”
The AP reports:
Mayor Eric Adams introduced a former elementary school teacher and anti-rat activist as his new “rat czar” on Wednesday. Officially, Kathleen Corradi, the mayor’s new hire, will be known as the director of rodent mitigation.
Corradi is tasked with battling the potentially millions of rats lurking in myriad urban nooks and crannies, subway tunnels and empty lots.
Hers is a new job, which the city advertised with a help-wanted ad seeking applicants who are “bloodthirsty,” possess “killer instincts” and could commit to the “wholesale slaughter” of rats.
This is so embarrassing

NYC deserves what they voted for.

"Hey, I have an idea. Let's make sure everyone knows NYC is rat infested." Said the same person who put a guy dressed as a woman on the Bud light can.

honest to god – this is one of the cringiest administrations in this city's history. And I would be shocked if it was matched on that level in its future.

Jesus Christ, just separate the food scraps and containerize all the trash. We don’t need a czar

Dress like a million bucks to show up for a press conference about… rats, trash, and dog poop. The whole thing is hilarious. Adams looking like the final boss villian in a mobster movie makes it even better.

Wonder what her salary is? Complete waste of money.

I’d like to know what bright mind decided that rats come out at 4 pm. They attack the trash after midnight, so collection should be earlier instead. In some parts of the city, like Hell’s Kitchen and East/West Village, you have to walk on the road because the sidewalks are taken.

We’re so old, we remember back in 2015 when Pizza Rat became a viral sensation:

You can’t get rid of the rats! They’re a part of New York’s brand … you just sort of expect them.
