CBS News thinks that there's a constitutional right to an abortion

Remember back when CBS News had a dedicated “abortion access” reporter who left and is now a full-time abortion activist (not that she ever wasn’t one)? Remember back during the Trump administration when there was no group shadier than the Federalist Society? CBS News notes that four of the five Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade attended a black-tie dinner marking the Federalist Society’s 40th anniversary.

And?

The only news we take note of here is that CBS News believes there was ever a “constitutional right” to an abortion. You know what is a constitutional right? Freedom of association.

What’s all the fuss? We’d joke that they had a child sacrifice or something, but that would be the other justices.

CBS News reports:

Four of the five Supreme Court justices who overturned the constitutional right to abortion showed up at the conservative Federalist Society’s black-tie dinner marking its 40th anniversary.

Justice Samuel Alito got a long, loud ovation Thursday night from a crowd of 2,000 people, most in tuxedos and gowns, when another speaker praised his opinion in June that overturned Roe v. Wade, long a target of judicial conservatives.

At a moment when opinion surveys show that Americans think the court is becoming more political and give it dismal approval ratings, the justices turned out to celebrate the group that helped then-President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans move the American judiciary, including the Supreme Court, to the right.

The Federalist Society has no partisan affiliation and takes no position in election campaigns, but it is closely aligned with Republican priorities, including the drive to overturn Roe.

“Mostly in tuxedos and gowns” at a black-tie dinner. That was newsworthy? If apparel choices are new, do we have a first lady to show you.

Editor’s Note: Republican voters deserve answers and accountability for the failed red wave.
