NASCAR acknowledges in its Pride Month tweet that recent actions haven't aligned with NASCAR's mission

We thought NASCAR’s mission was to race a bunch of cars around a track and hand a price to the fastest. This is the first day of Pride Month, though, and we’re learning all sorts of things. We haven’t seen a Pride Month tweet as cringeworthy as the Marines’ rainbow bullet graphic, but NASCAR sticks out through the tweet text. Apparently, NASCAR’s real mission is to be a welcoming sport for all. Maybe they’re still reeling from that “noose” that someone hung in Bubba Wallace’s stall (at least months before it was assigned to him), but NASCAR has something to get off its chest: recent actions have not aligned with NASCAR’s mission. Like what?

Some are suggesting that NASCAR let the LGBTQIA+ community down by making transphobic Texas Gov. Greg Abbott the honorary starter for its All-Star race:

We know! There’s the pride rainbow for gays, the angled stripes are for trans people and the black and brown communities, and the purple circle on the yellow field is for intersex people. It’s getting pretty crowded on that flag.
