After doing everything she could to ensure students didn’t have access to in-person learning for a year, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten has been making the media rounds recently assuring parents that kids will be back in classrooms this fall — we guess the grift could only go on for so long.
However, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has said that starting in June, schools will no longer be allowed to mandate masks for students, staff, parents, and visitors. KRIS reports that Dr. Nancy Vera, president of the Corpus Christi American Federation of Teachers, says the government “is going to cause a lot of suffering and illness. I think that is a travesty.”
Naturally, Weingarten agrees:
Last week a study conducted by the CDC found that masks were a key factor in stopping the spread of COVID. This is another reckless and dangerous move from the Governor of Texas. https://t.co/IGv3xRoiGo

The numbers coming out of Texas contradict this

You just made this up. Amazing

@rweingarten
You keep “unioning”. Obviously did NOT read that CDC article… or if you did, you did not understand it.I could highlight the bits that you don’t want to read for you…

You know those studies were all done in 2020… before vaccines were widely available in the USA? Did you read the research brief?

Texas is doing just fine thank you.

The damage you have personally done to the public perception of the teaching profession is atrocious.

You’re still trying to tweet through this?

This study was not statistically significant. This is cruelty. Serves no purpose. They are not affected by this disease and can no longer affect your vaccinated teachers.
— CR (@Christi41291793) May 25, 2021
Total bs. "The 21% lower incidence in schools that required mask use among students was not statistically significant compared with schools where mask use was optional." And this study was done pre-vaccine and did not track who (teacher or student) passed on the COVID. So stop. https://t.co/y8OtsTP0mp

I think any study done before the vaccines is meaningless but it's here: https://t.co/zvewv3a9xu

Seems our teachers do not want to follow the science. Makes me wonder about climate change? Could they be ignoring science there?

Time for parents to take back control of the education and well being of our kids…. and put lobbyists like this one to the back of the class.

Give up lady, it’s over.
— Neil Doran (@neildoran) May 25, 2021
She’ll never give up. She has to earn that half-million a year somehow.
