Charlotte Pence reacts to John Oliver's parody book in the classiest way possible [video]

As Twitchy reported Monday, “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver announced on his show that he was publishing a parody of Charlotte Pence’s children’s book, “Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of the Vice President,” except in his book, the bunny protagonist was gay.

Fox Business describes Oliver’s book as imagining “a world where Bundo (as he’s commonly known) falls in love with another male rabbit, but is prevented from marrying him by a stink bug that declares boys have to marry girls.”

Karen and Charlotte Pence both appeared on “Mornings with Maria” on Fox Business to promote their book and were asked about Oliver’s spoof — and author Charlotte reacted in the classiest way possible:

“I think imitation is the most sincere form of flattery in a way,” she said. “But in all seriousness, his book is contributing to charities that I think we can all get behind. We have two books that are giving to charities that are both about bunnies, so I’m all for it, really.”

Proceeds from Oliver’s book go to The Trevor Project, a crisis intervention and suicide prevent service for LGBTQ youth, and AIDS United, while proceeds from Pence’s book will go to A21, a nonprofit dedicated to stopping human trafficking, as well as an art therapy program at the Riley Hospital for Children.

Of course, during his segment, Oliver never got around to the bit where Pence’s book raises money to stop sex trafficking.

Here’s video of the segment:

How great is that? While Oliver hopes his book outsells Pence’s to “really piss off” the vice president, Charlotte Pence acknowledges that both books are benefiting worthy charities, so the more sales the better.

“The only thing better than one bunny book for charity is … TWO bunny books for charity.” Awesome.
