It’s a little too late for this to be a scorching hot take on the Parkland, Fla., school shooting, but Slate has finally come through with a psychological explanation of why conservatives are “so obsessed with guns.”
Why are conservatives so obsessed with guns anyway? Here’s a psychological explanation: https://t.co/CfM2Gqncq2 pic.twitter.com/3HevAvnTbs

We don’t expect anyone to click over to Slate for the explanation, so here’s a short summary: conservatives have less empathy, dislike change, don’t do nuance, see human nature as bad, are more moralistic … in short, that’s why they cling to their guns and religion.
So who wants to tell Slate that defending Second Amendment rights isn’t the same as “being obsessed with guns”? Guess how much conservatives would talk about guns if liberals weren’t trying to chip away at the right to own them?
