A lot of pundits expected the majority of the candidates at Saturday night’s #GOPDebate to target the quickly rising Sen. Marco Rubio, who had come very close to Donald Trump in the Iowa caucuses. What wasn’t quite expected was that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie would emerge as the candidate to hit Rubio the hardest and most consistently.
Christie is tar and feathering Rubio. #GOPDebate

@hardball_chris It is brutal and epic. Rubio is done.

@hardball_chris He's putting him over his knee and giving him a spanking

Christie hammers Rubio again on immigration & his backing away from immigration reform bill. He scores again. Rubio again repeats his answer
— Brit Hume (@brithume) February 7, 2016
@brithume Rubio's answer is the right one. People want border secured first.
— Josh #NeverTrump (@jhewitt1280) February 7, 2016
@brithume if you get asked the exact same question over and over, you're going to repeat the answer
— kevinhash (@kevinhash) February 7, 2016
i'd get Christie going after Rubio if he had the same fire for Trump. Like he chose to beat up the new kid, not the bully.
— GregGutfeld (@greggutfeld) February 7, 2016
@greggutfeld EXACTLY. At the same time, I’m disappointed that Rubio didn’t seize the opportunity. He could’ve eviscerated Christie…
— Wes Comer (@wes_comer) February 7, 2016
It may not help HIS chances, but Chris Christie is showing he knows how to wield a knife.
— Jonathan Martin (@jmartNYT) February 7, 2016
@greggutfeld, exactly. Shaking down the lunch money kid ain't so tough.
— JulieBarnhill (@JulieBarnhill) February 7, 2016
@greggutfeld agreed. It's like he's working his way up to the boss level.
— Chris Loesch (@ChrisLoesch) February 7, 2016
@greggutfeld like a game of knockout-you take out the one ahead of you out and then move on the Big dog
— Tom Neises (@NeisesTom) February 7, 2016
@greggutfeld you have to start picking people off in order! He'll go after Trump if ever gets remotely close in the polls!
— Laney Baxa (@LaneyBaxa) February 7, 2016
@greggutfeld and he decided to randomly start attacking Rubio JUST now, before the NH primary. Where were these opinions in past debates??
— Sam Vector (@SamVector) February 7, 2016
— New Republic (@NewRepublic) February 7, 2016
@NewRepublic He is indeed. Makes me want to have Rubio put on his footie pjs and go to bed
— Lisa (@lizard51) February 7, 2016
Christie won't attack Donald Trump, but will go nuclear on Marco Rubio.
Think about that.
— Nick Jacob (@nicktjacob) February 7, 2016
This is not a good night for Rubio to have a bad night.
— adam nagourney (@adamnagourney) February 7, 2016
Christie the heat-seeking anti-Rubio missile is hitting home

Is @marcorubio the target not only of other candidates but moderators as well?

So Christie, Bush and Trump come at Rubio. Trump and Carson attack Cruz. But who attacks Trump? #winning

Yep. All about blunting Marco. https://t.co/My7s70ljY2

At half time they should pull Martha Raddatz, Kasich should drop out, and then ABC should appoint Kasich moderator.
